- - -- - -- - -- - -der Rettung - - -, undjetzt, da die Pylagoren schriftlich Mitteilung machen über dieGeschehnisse in Delphi, dass nämlich Aischron, als [drei?] Athener,die unter dem Archon Diokles zu den Pythien kamen, alsentführt gemeldet wurden - - - gehandelt hatzusammen mit Charixenos - - -und andere von seinen - - - mitGewalt die Frevler (besiegte) und so die Ursache wurde für dieRettung der Gefangenen und ihre Befreiung;er sie schließlich nach Delphi zurückbrachte unter allemSchutz; – Damit nun auch in öffentlicher Weise der Rat und das Volkdie guten Männer ehrt, zu Glück und Heil!, wolle beschließender Rat: dass die Vorsitzenden, die erlost sein werdenzum Vorsitz in der Volksversammlung, sobald die gesetzlich vorgeschriebenenTage verstrichen sind, verhandeln lassen über - - -des Privilegs, und die Beschlussvorlage des Rates in dieVolksversammlung einbringen, wonach der Rat es für gut befindet, dass man belobigeAischron S.d. Proxenos wegen seiner Leistung und seines Ehrgeizes,den er für das Volk der Athener hegt,und bekränze mit goldenem Kranz gemäß dem Gesetz;dass er auch Athener sein soll und seine Nachkommen, und ereingeschrieben werden in Phyle und Demos und Phratrie, die erwill, so wie auch seine Vorfahren; – Damit auch dieanderen ehrgeizig für das Volk der Athenerkämpfen in dem Wissen, dass sie Dank erhalten werden,der den Wohltaten angemessen ist: dass die Prytanen, diejeweils im Amt sind, über das Privileg abstimmenlassen, und wenn es bestätigt worden ist, dass für ihndie Thesmotheten die Prüfung einleiten in dem öffentlichenGerichtshof gemäß dem Gesetz; dass diesenBeschluss der Sekretär des Rates aufzeichne auf eine steinerne Steleund aufstelle auf der Akropolis; dass für die Anfertigung derStele die Finanzverwalter die Kosten begleichen.
- - -- - -- - -- - -preservation - - -; andnow the Amphictyonic delegates have written concerning the eventsin Delphi, that, when it was reported that the - - - [Athenianswho went to the Pythia] in the archonship of Diokles[had been captured], Aischron - - - [made] - - -with Charixenos - - -and others with them - - -he overpowered the outlaws, and [took charge of]the rescue and [ransoming] of those who had been captured,and restored them [to Delphi in complete] safety;so, therefore, that the Council and People might be seen tobe honouring good men, for good fortune, the Councilshall decide: that the presiding committee who happento preside in the People, when the [days] set by the law[have passed], shall put the matter of the award - - - on the agenda,and submit the opinion of the Councilto the People, that it seems good to the Council to praiseAischron son of Proxenos for the excellence and love of honourwhich he continues to have for the Athenian Peopleand to crown him with a gold crown according to the law;and he shall be Athenian, and his descendants, andshall enrol in the tribe and deme and phratry that hewishes as did his ancestors, so that others toomay show love of honour in competing on behalf of the AthenianPeople, knowing that they will receive thanksworthy of their benefactions; and the prytany whichhappens to be in office shall put the voteabout the award, and when it is confirmed, the court presidentsshall bring the scrutiny of him to the publiccourt according to the laws; and the secretary of the Councilshall inscribe this decree on a stone steleand stand it on the acropolis; and for the [making] of the stelethe board of administrators shall allocate [the expenditure].
